Welcome to Unprocess, with Milli Hill

Do you want to unprocess the contents of your shopping trolley, your fridge, your plate, your life? You’ve come to the right place!

I’m Milli Hill, bestselling author of four non fiction books on women’s health, including the most recent, Ultra Processed Women, published on July 3rd 2025 by Harper Collins.

Writing Ultra Processed Women was a journey of discovery for me, as I delved deeper and deeper into the influence the food we eat has on everything from our gut health to our microbes to the future of our planet.

I want to share some of this knowledge with you.

But I don’t just want to preach from a pulpit. I’m not a dietician or a fitness guru - I consider myself a ‘normie’ and someone who tries and often fails, like most of us. I want to create a place on substack where we can go on a journey together, to think more about food, and about the many other ways our lives have become ‘processed’, from our fixation with our phones to our lack of connection to nature and to each other.

We all know these things are happening, but Unprocess will be a place to actually do something about it.

Each week there will be a post to get you thinking about the ways in which your diet could be affecting you, including news on the latest research.

We’ll have a dedicated space in the app where paid subscribers can chat to each other - and me - and exchange ideas, news and views on an unprocessed life. I’ll initiate regular chats, and you can too, whenever you like.

I’ll also be sharing practical ideas with you on ways to unprocess, for example ways to make those supermarket staples easily yourself at home; how to check out the credentials of your toiletries; ways to support the environment and environmental charities; nature for mental health; and so much more. We’ll have live chats with guest experts, cookalongs, and loads of inspiration and ideas on ways to make your own life not just healthier, but richer and more connected.

In short, Unprocess will be a community where we come together to improve our physical and mental health, get excited about food, and challenge ourselves to reconnect and live a less processed life. I’m excited to see the different ways this substack grows and develops, and to hear how it changes both your plate and your life!
