Should we stop using seed oils?

The first thing to say about seed oils is that they are NOT UPF - well, at least not according to the Nova classification we talked about in this post, which puts all oils into ‘group 2’ as ‘processed culinary ingredients’.

Having said that, you can’t be in a conversation about UPF for long without seed oils getting a mention, and it can get heated! (to very high temperatures ha ha!). I for one have witnessed a few discussions in UPF facebook groups about seed oils where it definitely seemed like I needed to get that sunflower oil out of my kitchen immediately!

An investigation reveals that, as ever, a little more nuance is required. And it also brings up some interesting information about omega 3, including some mind-blowing research on the impact of what we eat on how we behave, and even the size of our brains…
